The 28th of January is my birthday, a day to celebrate one more spin around the Sun!

My Birthday Wish is to – together – help generate jobs and establish a sustainable future for the Awajun women’s artisan cooperative and their community by making a tax-deductible contribution today.

Funds collected, thus far, have helped purchase computers, solar panels and computer trainings. The next phase of our fundraising campaign is for the set up of satellite internet, the most costly part of this project.

Bringing Internet to women artisans’ organization AMARNO and their community will facilitate overcoming the main barrier in communications with the outside world and will allow access to markets that ensure income and sustainable development for their families in Urakuza. It will support their community’s economic and sustainable future by creating an alternative to the sale of rainforest trees. This Internet system will also serve the wider community by providing access to other community organizations, members and leaders, school teachers and students.

This project is spearheaded by Awajun AMARNO Artisans and Urakuza Community in partnership with Ecotribal, ORG by vio and GO.
